Online Continuity of Operations Planning Released: 4/10/2013  Duration: 26 minutes
Description According to the American Red Cross, 40% of businesses don’t reopen after a disaster. In order to survive and continue to provide services to the public, businesess not only need to have an emergency response plan for the initial minutes and hours of an event, such as an earthquake or fire, but also a continuity of operations (COOP) plan for the days and weeks to follow. Over the course of two sessions, this training guides government, private, and non-profit agencies on how to prioritize their business activities and suspend non-essential functions; plan for the use of alternate facilities, supplies, and means of communication; protect vital information; develop a robust chain of succession; and keep the mission and vision of the agency thriving in the volatile environment. COOP planning is essential for business resiliency in the face of disasters.
